The Knitter

Julie Brittan - Out in the Cold

My mother taught me to knit when I was very young. My father rode a motorbike, so I decided my first project would be a scarf for him. It was full of holes and the sides had more curves than Mae West but he wore it with pride. Nowadays when I pick up the needles to knit a scarf, it only has holes if I want it to and the sides are straight. I pay the same attention to detail in all the garments I knit, and the passion remains.

Good quality - great styles.

I am a regular stall holder at Tamahere Markets located just south of Hamilton during the winter months, and enjoy people stopping by for a chat with a story about past and present knitters. Everybody knows one!
